Butterbeer 3 Ways – Original, Frozen, and Spiked

Everyone who’s been to Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter knows how amazing the official Butterbeer is. I mean, they collaborated with JK Rowling on the recipe so it’s literally a part of the books brought to life. Try all versions below and tell us which one’s your favorite!

Original Butterbeer

Ingredients

  • 4 cans cream soda
  • 1/4 cup butterscotch syrup
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions

  1. In a large pitcher or bowl, combine cream soda and butterscotch syrup. Whisk thoroughly.
  2. In a KitchenAid stand mixer, beat heavy cream with whisk attachment until stiff peaks form. This will take 2-4 minutes.
  3. Fold in sugar and vanilla and melted butter until combined with cream. Do not over mix.
  4. Drizzle 4 mugs with butterscotch syrup.
  5. Pour in cream soda mixture, leaving room on top for whipped cream.

Frozen Butterbeer

Ingredients

  • 2 liter cream soda
  • butterscotch syrup
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions

  1. Pour half the cream soda into ice cube trays and pre-freeze.
  2. Mix whipped cream same as in the recipe above.
  3. In a blender, blend cream soda ice cubes with unfrozen cream soda and a drizzle of butterscotch syrup until you have a slushy consistency.
  4. Pour frozen mixture into butterscotch drizzled glasses and top with whipped cream.
  5. Optional step – add a scoop of vanilla ice cream before the whipped topping

Spiked

Add a shot or two of any of the following spirits, or a shot of both, to spike your glass of butterbeer –
– vanilla or caramel vodka
– caramel or butterscotch schnapps
